2023 COMPETITION & sideline cheer
We are a coed COMPETITIVE CHEER ICA program open to all boys and girls K-8th grade. Competition cheer’s focus is to build a competitive team and compete at competitions against other squads. In competitions, teams are judged by a panel of cheerleading experts on difficulty and execution of their routine. Typically you have to perform a 2 and one-half minute routine with music that includes stunts, jumps, tumbling and a variety of exaggerated facial expressions. Jr Warriors cheer thrives on teaching children the fundamentals of cheer both at sidelINE and competitive levels. Athletes are taught what it means to be part of a team and prepare them for their transition into High School programs.
FALL COMPETITIVE & SIDELINE - July - December *Season concludes earlier than December if team does not qualify for State Competition
Registration Fee:

These fees are eligible for payment plans that can be chosen at checkout on Sports Engine during online registration. The duration of payment plans shortens as the season nears and all plans must be paid in full by July 31st.

*All of our competitions will be through the Illinois Cheer Association (ICA). Squads will
compete in 3 or 4 local competitions. When a squad wins a competition, or in some
instances, beats a certain score, they will receive a "bid" and qualify to compete at the State
Championship. The State Championship will be held at the NIU Convocation Center the first
weekend in December.
Practice:
K-2nd Grade-should expect to practice 2-3 times a week for 1.5hours
3rd – 8th Grade - should expect to practice 2-3 times a week for 2 hours.
As we approach the season, we will share exact practice days and times with families. Practices will be held at Maine West High School and Des Plaines Park District facilities.

$100 CHECK WILL BE HELD FROM EACH FAMILY-AFTER 2 volunteer commitments have been fulfilled we will return the uncashed check. Since we are a volunteer-based organization, we ask that all parents help out where they are able to. Typical responsibilities we need assistance with are parade participation, organizing events, setup and take down of events, concessions at football games, and fundraising and sponsorship efforts.
Fundraising Requirements:
Jr Warriors Cheer will expect each Cheerleader to participate in our fall fundraiser. –this season’s goal is to purchase uniforms for the entire cheer program to be able to rent for future seasons and save families on registration costs!
